Bromley LTC AEGON Team Honoured

1st May 2011

Following Bromley Lawn Tennis Club’s tremendous achievements in the AEGON Team Tennis Championship, the reigning National Champions were awarded “Team of the Year” at the 2010 Kent Tennis Awards Dinner last week.

Receiving the award from Austin Smith, President of the Kent LTA, Team Captain Rob Searle was delighted. “The AEGON Team Tennis Championships is the equivalent of the football premier league and we are thrilled to receive this honour. All the squad are very committed to the team and our pedigree in the competition speaks for itself. Having been crowned National Champions in three out of the last six years, Bromley LTC is aiming for a hat trick of successive titles this year”.

Two of Bromley’s squad members also received individual awards from Kent Tennis on the night. Sean Thornley, currently ranked 17 in the country, picked up the “Player of the Year” award and Lewis Burton, who reached the junior doubles final at Wimbledon last year, received “Junior Player of the Year”.

Bromley LTC travel to Ipswich on Sunday 8th May in the hope of extending their two year, 24 match unbeaten run in the competition.
