Bromley LTC Celebrate Their Title
18th March 2011
Having been crowned AEGON Team Tennis National Champions for the second year running, Bromley Lawn Tennis Club recently celebrated their success with team sponsors, club members and junior players alike.
“Winning the AEGON National Title is the tennis equivalent of winning the FA Premier League and we wanted to show our appreciation to everyone who sponsored and supported us throughout the year” said Oliver Freelove the team’s Player Manager.
In the presence of some noted dignitaries including The Worshipful The Mayor of Bromley and Stuart Smith, the Immediate Past President of The Lawn Tennis Association, the AEGON squad players ran a fun coaching clinic for the club’s junior performance players before contesting some singles and doubles exhibition matches.
With all the Bromley squad being current or former top British National players it was an ideal opportunity to introduce Andrew Richardson, the new head coach at Bromley LTC and one of the team’s signings for the 2011 season.
Andrew, a former British Davis Cup Player, was ranked number 3 in Britain, held an ATP Ranking of 133 and reached the third round of Wimbledon. Commenting on joining the team Andrew said “I am delighted to be joining a team who have achieved such success in the AEGON Team Tennis Championships. This is a very tough competition with all the best players in the country competing. Having won in 2005, 2009 and 2010, I am hoping I can help Bromley win the title for a fourth time and make it three victories in a row”.
Bromley LTC will start their defence of the AEGON Title in April next year.
