Bromley LTC Gala Evening - October 2009
5th November 2009
Bromley LTC enjoyed their National Club League success with a champion Gala Evening held at the Bishop Justus Theatre Hall, where Eddie “The Voice” Partridge was the cabaret act.
Guests, club members and players mingled together to celebrate winning the nation’s premier inter- club title.
Young Matt Illingworth of Beckenham was named ‘Player of the Season’; he played number 1 for the team and he did not lose a singles match the whole season, including three out of three wins in the final.
Manager Charles Baylis presented Matt with a trophy whilst announcing that his nine year reign as Manager was at an end. During that time Bromley have come from the backwaters of the County divisions, to be runners up in 2008 and Champions in 2005 and 2009.
Former National doubles champion Oliver Freelove will now take over as Manager, with Charles Baylis staying involved with funding and sponsorship.
Chairwoman Rachel Payne presented Charles with a replica NCL trophy and praised his leadership, determination and player selection during his term, adding that the tough decisions that come with being Team Manager should not be underestimated and thanked Charles and the players on behalf of BLTC
She also went on to comment how well the junior section of the club had done with the most successful summer on record, including another Aegon green trophy.
The celebration was a fitting end to a successful Aegon campaign and a memorable season, roll on 2010!
